Red Deer Rebels News Release
FIRST PLACE FEELING!
Your Red Deer Rebels start the new week in first place in the WHL Eastern Conference after a Saskatchewan trip that started with a blip before finishing with a pair of impressive wins - led by another chart-topping performance by a star Rebels forward!
Wednesday, Sept. 30 - The Rebels started well with an early goal from Cameron Kuzma but eventually fell to the Prince Albert Raiders by a score of 4-1 at the Art Hauser Centre. It marked the first time this season the Rebels were outshot by their opponent as the Raiders carried a 38-26 edge on the shot clock. Red Deer was 0-for-2 on power plays while Prince Albert was 0-for-4. Poul Andersen had an assist to run his season opening point streak to five games and now co-leads the WHL with six helpers.
Friday, October 2 - The Rebels came out guns blazing as they scored three times in just over six minutes to start the game on their way to a 4-2 road win over the Saskatoon Blades at SaskTel Centre. Beckett Hamilton opened the scoring then set up two-straight by Poul Andersen. Cameron Kuzma scored in the second period, his second goal in as many games. Matthew Kondro made 27 saves with most of them coming in the second half as the Blades tried to rally from behind. Saskatoon outshot Red Deer 29-27 and was 1-for-6 on power plays while the Rebels were 0-for-3.
Saturday, October 3 - Fans in Moose Jaw were treated to the Poul Andersen Show as the Minnesota native scored four goals and set up a fifth in Red Deer's 5-2 win over the Warriors at the Temple Gardens Centre. Beckett Hamilton and rookie Paxson Madill each had three assists in this one. Defenceman Kayden Meyer scored his first goal with the Rebels while rookie netminder Nathan Salisbury improved to 2-0 between the pipes.
The Rebels lead the way in the WHL Eastern Conference with a 4-2-0-1 record for nine points.

BETTER CALL POUL!
For the second-straight week, the Tempo WHL Player of the Week fuelled by Co-op plays for the Red Deer Rebels as Poul Andersen was given the nod on Monday. It was a slam dunk choice as the St. Louis Park, Minnesota native piled up six goals and eight points over three games. Two of Andersen's tallies were game winners. He leads all WHL players this season in both goals (7) and points (14). Andersen has 44 points (21 goals, 23 assists) in 43 games with the Rebels since joining the club midway through last season. Rebels Captain Beckett Hamilton was the WHL's Player of the Week last week.
