Real Salt Lake Transfers Carlos Salcedo to Mexico's Chivas

SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, January 6, 2015) - Real Salt Lake has agreed to transfer defender Carlos Salcedo to Chivas de Guadalajara in Mexico's Liga MX. Per league and club policy, the transfer fee exchanged and allocation allotment will not be disclosed.

Salcedo played two seasons with the Claret-and-Cobalt after signing in 2013. The 21-year-old native of Guadalajara, Mexico, played one season with Real Salt Lake's Arizona Academy before signing with the first team.

Over two seasons, he played in 25 matches, starting 20 times. In 2014, he logged 800 minutes in his second season on the RSL back line. He scored his first career MLS goal on September 19 in a 5-1 win over the Colorado Rapids and started six straight matches to close out the season as Salt Lake went 3-2-1 with a 0.67 goals against average and three straight shutouts in the final three matches.

While with RSL, Salcedo developed into a regular with Mexico's U-23 National Team, which is currently undergoing preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. In August, he also earned a spot in the Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game.
