Real Salt Lake Trades MF Yordany Alvarez to Orlando City for SuperDraft Pick

SANDY, Utah (Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014) - Real Salt Lake announced on Wednesday that it has traded MF Yordany Alvarez to Orlando City Soccer Club in exchange for Orlando's lowest 2017 MLS SuperDraft fourth round pick. The trade will be in effect for the start of the 2015 MLS regular season.

Orlando City Soccer Club was named as Major League Soccer's 21st franchise last November, and will make its league debut in 2015 at the start of MLS's 20th season. For 2014, Alvarez will be on a year-long loan to Orlando City S.C. as the club competes in its final USL Pro season.

Real Salt Lake acquired Alvarez on a loan deal with Orlando City S.C. on Sept. 15, 2011. The Cuba native went on to spend two full seasons with the Claret-and-Cobalt, featuring in a total of 38 league games - 20 of which were starts - and notching one goal for the club.
