Real Salt Lake Terminate the Contract of Forward Jonathan Menéndez

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Salt Lake announced today that it has mutually agreed to terminate the contract of forward Jonathan Menéndez - recently on loan to Newell's Old Boys - following previous loan to Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield in Argentina - in order to facilitate the player's freedom of pursuit for future opportunities. RSL thanks Joni for his service and commitment to soccer in Utah.
Menéndez, 29, had appeared in 24 matches across all completions during the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Claret-and-Cobalt, scoring one goal and adding five assists. The Argentine-born forward first joined Real Salt Lake on May 29, 2021 and earned MLS Team of the Week honors for his goal and assist against FC Dallas in week 23 of 2021.
"We appreciate Joni for everything he has done for our Club in the last two years," RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said. "This mutually-agreed upon termination will allow Joni to seek and identify future opportunities."
