Real Salt Lake News Release

SALT LAKE CITY (Monday, March 21, 2005) – Real Salt Lake today announced a strategic partnership with MLS Camps, naming it RSL's official recreational camp and clinic program. MLS Camps has devoted several years to continually creating new and innovative ways to develop youth players, coaches and clubs by meeting their ever-changing needs.

"MLS Camps is the national leader in providing recreational camp opportunities for young people," said Real Salt Lake General Manager Steve Pastorino. "They provide instructive, entertaining, rewarding camps – and we look forward to welcoming graduates at MLS Camp Graduation ceremonies prior to several games this summer."

As the soccer division of North American Sports Camps, a 35-year old organization, MLS Camps has become the United States' largest youth soccer education provider largely due to the strength and professional credibility gained through its exclusive relationship with Major League Soccer.

MLS Camps programs are offered to over 270,000 youth participants in 1,100 communities across the United States each year, and feature an MLS-themed curriculum, MLS Stadium Graduation Ceremonies, and Companion Vouchers to MLS games - now, most notably, Real Salt Lake. Camp participants typically receive an MLS Camps-branded soccer ball, t-shirt, and a personalized evaluation.

To further its commitment as an industry leader, MLS Camps recently partnered with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America to offer coaching Diploma Courses at the State, Regional and National levels.

"We are thrilled with our partnership with Real Salt Lake, and look forward to offering quality professional programs and services to the entire Greater Utah soccer community," said MLS Camps CEO Dr. Gary Russell.

REAL SALT LAKE PRESEASON UPDATE: Real Salt Lake enters its final week of preseason training today at the University of Redlands, Redlands, Calif. Last week, RSL competed in games against Chivas USA and against Rocky Mountain Rivals Colorado Rapids, with both games ending in 2-2 draws. During its last week in Southern California, RSL will make final preparations for its inaugural game against the MetroStars on Saturday, April 2, in New York by competing in an exhibition game against the 2004 MLS Cup Western Conference champion Kansas City Wizards in Tulsa, Okla., on Friday, March 25, at the University of Tulsa Soccer and Track Stadium.

In the game against Chivas USA on Wednesday, March 16, FW Jamie Watson notched RSL's first goal when MF Kevin Novak made a breaking run down the right passing the ball off to Watson who nailed it in the back of the net in the 51st minute. Just three minutes later, MF Leighton O'Brien scored his first goal of the preseason during a penalty kick in the 54th minute after being brought down hard in the box.

Versus the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, March 19, Major League Soccer's All-Time leading scorer, FW Jason Kreis, tallied preseason goal No. 5, finding a loose ball in the box and striking a shot sharply past the ‘keeper on the right side in the 54th minute. Just 14 minutes later, Real Salt Lake's combination play and extended possession set up the equalizer. DF Rusty Pierce played the ball up the right sideline to MF Dipsy Selolwane, who quickly fed a ball to the middle for O'Brien. O'Brien then played a ball out to the left for Trinidadian National Team MF Marlon Rojas, who served a ball from the wing into the box for Kreis, who finished off the chance with a successful, game-tying header in the 70th minute to complete the game's scoring.
