Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Friday, March 6, 2015) - Real Salt Lake announced Tuesday that it has signed midfielder Adolfo "Fito" Ovalle as a Homegrown Player. Per league and club policy, the financial terms of the contracts will not be disclosed.
"Fito is a top-flight player out of our Academy and is a proven winner," said RSL Technical Director Craig Waibel. "Getting the opportunity to play at the professional level will be beneficial to his career and he has a bright future ahead of him."
Ovalle, 17, is a product of the RSL-Arizona Academy. During his time with the Academy, he played 54 matches with the U-16s from 2012-2014, helping win the USSDA championship in 2013. He started this season with the U-18 team before training with Real Salt Lake during preseason training camp.
Born in Chile, but raised in Layton, Utah, he joins Utah natives Sebastian Saucedo and Phanuel Kavita along with Lalo Fernandez, Justen Glad and Jordan Allen as RSL-Arizona Academy products signed to Real Salt Lake.
Real Salt Lake opens the 2015 season on Saturday with a road match against the Portland Timbers, opening the home schedule on March 14 against the Philadelphia Union. RSL is now taking reservations for group outings in 2015. Group tickets are available on a first come first served basis. Due to tremendous support and the number of Pride Season Ticket holders, seats are extremely limited. Filling out a priority web form will guarantee you are at the top of the contact list for group seats in the 2015 season.
As dates are finalized for the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and the 2015/16 CONCACAF Champions League tournaments, changes to the 2015 RSL calendar will be reflected on the "SCHEDULE" page of www.RealSaltLake.com.
