Real Salt Lake News Release
HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Salt Lake today announced an international roster move ahead of the 2024 MLS preseason, as Guatemalan FW Rubio Rubin was loaned to Queretaro of Liga MX.
"We wish Rubio the best of luck as he embarks on this loan move," said RSL Sporting Director Kurt Schmid. "We have no doubt he will compete for minutes at Queretaro, and will closely monitor his situation as the 2024 season progresses."
Rubin - who joins Luis Gil as Real Salt Lake players matriculating to Queretaro - has scored 12 goals in his 93 appearances for RSL since his April, 2021 move to Utah. The Guatemalan international boasts six goals in 17 matches since his debut with Guatemala in May, 2022, including two goals in three games played in the most recent Gold Cup for Los Chapines. Rubin, 27, appeared in seven games for the U.S. National Team, but employed his one-time switch to represent his mother's birth country.
