Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Saturday, September 4, 2010) - Real Salt Lake today announced that DF Chris Schuler has been sent on loan to AC St. Louis of the USSF D-2 Pro League, effective immediately. The rookie defender left Utah on Friday to join AC St. Louis, for whom he will be eligible to suit up for in the NASL Conference squad's contest this Sunday, Sept. 5 against Miami FC Blues, taking place at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in suburban Fenton, MO (4:00 p.m. MT kickoff). Per conditions of the loan, Real Salt Lake will be able to recall Schuler at any point before AC St. Louis winds down its regular season schedule later this month.
This will mark Schuler's second stint with AC St. Louis, as the rookie out of Creighton also suited up for the squad while on loan during back-to-back road games on July 21 at the Montreal Impact (0-3 L) and July 24 at Crystal Palace Baltimore (0-1 L), going the full 90 minutes in both appearances. Schuler has yet to make an appearance for the MLS Cup champs in regular season action in 2010, but did play 63 minutes in a starting role in RSL's 1-2 defeat at D.C. United in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play on June 2, and suited up for the Utah side twice in friendlies on May 15 against the Mexican U-21 National Team (90 min.) and on June 19 vs. Costa Rican squad Puntarenas F.C. (45 min.).
While in St. Louis, Schuler will be reunited with fellow Real Salt Lake teammate MF Luis Gil, who began a loan spell of his own with the "Show-Me-State" side back on August 13, since which the 16-year-old has suited up on three occasions, totaling 116 minutes of action (1 game started). A third RSL player, MF Collen Warner, also served a brief stint with AC St. Louis, the rookie playing twice across late July and early August (1 game started, 136 minutes played).
