Real Monarchs Signs Midfielder Devin Vega

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs announced today the 2019 USL Championship title winners have signed midfielder Devin Vega, pending league and federation approval. The terms of his signing have not been disclosed.

"Devin is a player that has had success at the Championship and League One level," RSL Technical Director Dan Egner said. "At only 21 years old, we expect him to come in, continue to develop and be a significant contributor for the Monarchs. He is exactly the type of player we look to bring in to the Monarchs, and we couldn't be happier to welcome him to Utah."

Vega, 21, joins the Monarchs with experience in USL Championship having spent 2017 with San Antonio FC where he recorded three goals across 14 appearances, after playing his youth career with FC Dallas from 2015-17. The attacking-midfielder signed with Phoenix Rising FC ahead of the 2018 season, where he tallied two goals in 12 appearances before making nine appearances and three goals while on loan with FC Tucson in 2019. In November, Vega earned international experience with the Puerto Rico Men's National team where he contributed a goal in his first appearance during the 3-0 win over Anguilla in CONCACAF Nations League C.

Real Monarchs finished the 2019 season having won its first USL Championship Title after finishing 4th in the Western Conference at 16-10-8 (56 points). The Monarchs begins their title defense on the road against San Antonio FC on March 7 before returning to Zions Bank Stadium to begin its Four-Corners Cup defense against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, March 14, at 3:00 p.m. MT.
