Real Maryland FC Releases Ties with Coach

We learned late yesterday that Coach Roger Fernandez was arrested for sexual abuse with a minor. At this time, Real Maryland FC has cut all ties with Coach Fernandez as the investigation of the authorities into this is conducted.

Real Maryland FC has met with the investigating authorities and are cooperating fully with them in this case. This is a serious matter that has affected the Club and all that participate with the different programs.

All coaches are put through an extensive background check. The Club will now identify the proper coaches that are going to take his place with the current teams. There is a responsibility to continue to strive to protect and serve the community in which we live.

Real Maryland FC is shocked and saddened by these events.

We greatly appreciate all of you that have worked hard to get to this point and who have rallied around the Club in this time of need. We greatly appreciate your support.

Real Maryland FC is going to continue to work with the investigating authorities. In doing so we would like to direct anyone who has had interaction with Coach Fernandez in a manner they wish to discuss with authorities, the point of contact on this case is Detective Chad Williams.
