Published on October 1, 2010 under United Soccer League Championship (USL) News Release

TAMPA, Fla. - The eighth and final episode of "USL Breakaway" for 2010 makes its debut at 5 p.m. ET tonight, Friday October 1, on Fox Soccer Channel.

The focus is on the recent announcement of USL PRO, the highest level of professional soccer in the U.S., Canada and Caribbean outside of MLS. A 30-minute magazine show highlighting the teams and personalities throughout United Soccer Leagues, "USL Breakaway" is in its fifth consecutive season on Fox Soccer Channel.

In Episode 8 viewers will learn about a new era in USL's professional ranks as USL PRO makes its debut in 2011. Featuring a regionalized competition model, USL PRO is a merger of USL's First and Second Divisions and will be governed by team owners. Current USL owners and potential USL PRO franchises gathered in Tampa recently to discuss the exciting new league, and "USL Breakaway" was there to speak with some of those who will be involved.

Next "USL Breakaway" viewers will take a look at the Charleston Battery, who will play in USL PRO in 20011 and captured the USL-2 title after moving from USL-1. Bringing players such as Tom Heinemann and Levi Coleman in from the USL Men's Player Showcase strengthened the team and shows the importance of USL's development system. We also recap the excitement at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston as the Battery held off a late surge from fellow USL PRO team Richmond to take the title, 2-1.

Finally, Episode 8 takes a brief look back at the W-League and PDL championships, as well as a look ahead to the offseason and the 2010 USL SoccerFest, featuring the Super Y-League North American Finals and Annual General Meeting.

"USL Breakaway" is produced by Cultural Videos and Sports Communications Inc.
