Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - The Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA) will still hold its annual tryouts, but the dates and times are to be determined due to precautions surrounding COVID-19.
The Riverhounds organization continues to monitor recommendations from local, state and federal government levels as well as health organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additional updates to dates and times of the RDA's annual tryouts will be announced at a later date.
Furthermore, RDA teams will compete in two leagues, the ECNL and the Great Lakes Alliance League, this upcoming 2020-2021 season. The ECNL will provide league games for boys and girls U-13 and older, with a growth in Regional League fixtures for girls teams U-13 and older. On the other hand, the Great Lakes Alliance League will provide league games for U-10 to U-12 boys and girls, as well as select RDA II teams. The Great Lakes Alliance League will replace the Ohio North Premier League, in which younger RDA teams currently compete.
This fall, the Academy will offer a new program for players in the Advancement Stage (U-15+) of the RDA. This program will further prepare high school-aged athletes by offering four to five training sessions per week and a competitive game program. In addition, the program will allow RDA players, who do not play high school soccer, the opportunity to study the game, work on individual development needs and use the two to three months to prepare for ECNL competition that starts in November. More details on this program will be announced at a later date.
Along with the news of tryouts and programs, the RDA will announce its 2020-2021 coaching staff in the near future.
