
RazorSharks slam dunk opener

(Rochester, N.Y.)Å The Rochester RazorSharks of the American Basketball Association opened the 2005-2006 season with a 89-88 win over the Buffalo Rapids last Saturday night in front of 5,893 fans at The Blue Cross Arena. James Reaves (Edison Tech/Niagara) had 28 points to lead the RazorSharks in their inaugural game, with Demond Stewart (Greece Olympia/Niagara) contributing 16 points and Chris Carrawell (Duke) dropping in 15 points.
THIS WEEK: The RazorSharks host the Newark Express on Saturday, November 12 in a special matinee game at 2:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The Express are coached by former NBA great Darryl Dawkins - "Chocolate Thunder". Known for his on-court showmanship and rim-rattling dunks, Dawkins brings the same intensity behind the bench for Newark. Rochester will play its first-ever road game on Sunday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. in Rockville, MD against the Maryland Nighthawks.

SHARK BITES: Former Brighton resident and current feature writer for Sports Illustrated Alexander Wulff will be in Rochester for the game on Saturday afternoonÅ Wulff is researching the ABA for a future story in Sports IllustratedÅ Saturday's 11/12 game will be replayed on WHTK AM-1280 at 10:00 p.m. with Gene Battaglia handling the play-by-play and former Syraucuse University great Roosevelt Bouie providing color commentaryÅ .Next week's home games for the RazorSharks will be Wednesday, November 16 against the Strong Island Sound at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, November 19 at 7:35 p.m. against the Montreal Matrix.
