Rochester RazorSharks News Release
(Rochester, N.Y.) - The Rochester RazorSharks of the American Basketball Association have signed two players and have added both to their 2006 ABA playoff roster. Jermaine Watson, a 6'2" guard from Boston College and Michael Moncrief, a 6'5" forward from Sterling College (Kansas) were added to the RazorSharks roster earlier in the week and both played in last night's 111-105 loss at Harlem. Both Watson and Moncrief are expected to see action in Sunday's home game against the Boston Frenzy and Tuesday's regular season finale at home against the Buffalo Rapids.
Watson, a native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, graduated from Boston College last year after averaging 9.6 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game during his senior season for the Eagles. The 25 year-old played in 126 career games at Boston College. Watson was named the Massachusetts High School Basketball Player of the Year while at Tabor Academy in 2000-2001.
Moncrief played for the Harlem Globetrotters in 2004 and earned NAIA All-American honors after his senior season at Sterling College in 2004. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Moncrief averaged 18.7 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game his senior season, finishing fourth on the all-time scoring list at Sterling College and he was the most prolific three-point shooter in school history. Moncrief was named the KCAC "Player of the Year" his senior season.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
