ABA names first round playoff matchups

Indianapolis, IN. The American BasketbalL Association (ABA) today announced the matchups for the First Round of its Championship Playoff Series with the final eight teams standing to participate in The Great Eight in Rochester, NY on March 22-26. They are:
Boston Frenzy @ Harlem Strong Dogs
Tacoma Navigators @ Newark Express
Fresno Heatwave @ Bellingham Slam
Detroit Wheels @ Toledo Ice
Buffalo Rapids @ Montreal Matrix
Birmingham Magicians @ Strong Island Sound
Los Angeles Aftershock @ Beijing Aoshen Olympian
Orange County Buzz @ Tijuana Dragons
According to Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP, "These pairings were made using a combination of factors, including won-loss record, power rankings, difficulty of schedule, number of games played and geography. We think the match-ups are fair - and it's anybody's tournament to win. Afterall, this weekend, Harlem defeated the league's number one team, Rochester. It will be a wide open tournament."
