Tijuana Dragons to replace Gallup Talons in ABA playoffs
Published on March 4, 2006 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Tijuana Dragons will replace the Gallup Talons in the ABA playoffs that start next weekend.
According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "The ownership of the Gallup Talons has changed hands. The new owners, to be announced next week, and the league felt that it would be best if Gallup started fresh next season and the team has graciously stepped aside so that Tijuana could make the 24-team playoff roster. It was a generous thing for the Talons to do; the city of Gallup has really supported its team; Clayton Shields and his players were one of the league's best teams all season long. We are really looking forward to next season as Gallup is truly one of the ABA's premiere cities."
