RazorSharks on historic 16-game win streak, ranked first in ABA

(Rochester, N.Y.) - The Rochester RazorSharks of the American Basketball Association clinched the Connie Hawkins Division title last weekend as they raised their record to 24-3 with a 127-93 win over the Montreal Matrix at The Blue Cross Arena last Sunday night. The RazorSharks, who are on a 16-game winning streak, broke the Rochester professional basketball record of 15 straight wins held by the 1949-50 Rochester Royals of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The RazorSharks last lost on December 18, 2005 at Harlem and have won 20 of their last 21 games.

After defeating the Indiana Alley Cats last Thursday night in Rochester, the RazorSharks have moved into first place in the ABA's Pit Bull Power Rankings. The power rankings determine the seedings of the top 24 ABA teams for the 2006 playoffs. The top eight teams will receive a first round bye in the ABA playoffs, scheduled to begin the weekend of March 10-12.

The RazorSharks play their final road game of the regular season this Friday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. against the Harlem Strong Dogs, the site of their last loss. Harlem defeated Rochester 119-116 in double overtime on December 18, 2005. The RazorSharks return home for their final two games of the regular season as they host the Boston Frenzy on Sunday, March 5 at 2:05 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena. The regular season finale will take place on Tuesday, March 7 against the Buffalo Rapids at 7:05 p.m.
