RazorSharks host first playoff game Sunday, March 19

(Rochester, N.Y.) - The Rochester RazorSharks open the 2006 ABA Playoff Championships on Sunday, March 19 at The Blue Cross Arena at 2:05 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined. Rochester received a first round playoff bye for finishing #1 in the ABA Playoff Power Rankings. Tickets for the RazorSharks first-ever playoff game will go on sale at a date to be announced later this week.

Rochester will host the Buffalo Rapids (11-17) in their regular season finale on Tuesday, March 7 at 7:05 p.m. in The Blue Cross Arena. All RazorSharks players will be available for a special autograph session after the game. The RazorSharks are 25-4 and have clinched the Connie Hawkins Division title .

ABA NEWS: The ABA has announced the first round match-ups among the 24 teams that have qualified for the ABA Playoff Championships. The RazorSharks and seven other top-ranked teams have received a first round bye, with teams ranked #9 through #24 squaring off this weekend, March 10-12. According to Ricardo Richardson, ABA Executive Vice President, "These pairings were made using a combination of factors, including won-loss record, power rankings, difficulty of schedule, number of games played and geography. We think the match-ups are fair - and it's anybody's tournament to win."
