RazorSharks ABA leader in attendance

(Rochester, N.Y.)Å The Rochester RazorSharks lead the American Basketball Association in attendance two weeks into the regular season with an average of 3,439 fans per game after four home games at The Blue Cross Arena.

The RazorSharks opening night crowd of 5,893 was the largest attendance figure in the 46-team professional basketball league so far this season. The Miami Pit Bulls drew an opening night crowd of 4,357 at the BankAtlantic Center as Miami defeated the Orange County Buzz 114-111 behind former NBA star Tim Hardaway's 34 points. Some ABA teams have yet to play a home game in the 2005-2006 season.

"The RazorSharks are very pleased with the response of the Rochester fans," said RazorSharks Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Orest Hrywnak. "Head Coach Rod Baker is doing a fantastic job on the court with a winning team and the fans are coming to see a great product in a major league arena."

ABA POWER RANKINGS:

The RazorSharks are #4 in the initial ABA Power Rankings, introduced by the league office on Wednesday. The ABA will rank the top 16 teams weekly, based on record, difficulty of schedule and other league criteria. In March 2006, the ABA will use the power rankings to determine qualifying for the playoffs, with the top 16 teams hosting home games as a total of 32 teams play a single-elimination tournament for the ABA title.
