Beijing Aoshen Olympian News Release

Maywood, CA. ABA Aoshen Olympian played against the Bellingham Slam at home, and with a great shooting percentage (53.2%), defeated the Slam 112-105. By winning two games in a row to start the season, the Olympians now lead the West Coast division. Such a strong start by the Olympians have changed many peoples' impressions towards Chinese players and no longer think that they are soft and weak and cannot compete at this level.

The Olympian's point guard, Sun Yue was bothered with lower back pain due to a serious collision in the first game when he was trying to grab a rebound against another player. Thus, he was only able to play 28 minutes with an unusual performance of 2 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.

In the beginning of the game, the Olympians started slow, but then Huang Hai Bei took control of the game scoring 8 points in a row and giving the Olympians the lead by 5 at the end of the first half. The Slam was forced to play catch up during the second half and their comeback was strong enough to take the lead and hold it for 5 minutes. With 3 minutes left in the third quarter, Olympian's sixth man, Huo Nan, made a steal and took the ball all the way which gave the Olympians the lead again. After this earthshaking dunk by Huo Nan, the Slam was unable to recover. And the Olympians went on to win by seven. Bellingham Slam's player, Mike Bush, played extremely well with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals. Another high point for the Olympians was 20 year old forward Li Wei having an outstanding ABA debutg with 4 points and 3 rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench.
