Corpus Christi, Texas: October 15, 2004 â The Corpus Christi Rayz are all set to play the first International game in the team's history on Saturday night, October 16th when they host the Mexico National Team. The Division III Mexican team will play the Rayz at the Memorial Coliseum on Saturday as part of their first ever trip to play hockey in the United States. Tickets are only $5 and available by calling the Rayz office at (361)814-PUCK.
The Mexico National Team and the Corpus Christi Rayz will square off at the Coliseum in the Rayz third pre-season game of the season. Tonight they are in Austin to face-off against the Ice Bats, and last night they played the New Mexico Scorpions.
The Rayz have planned a party style atmosphere for the game on Saturday night that will entertain everyone in attendance. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as the pre-game festivities will begin at 5:30pm leading up to a 7:05pm start time.
"We've got a lot of fun stuff planned," said Rayz General Manager Larry Linde. "We know that this is the first opportunity a lot of people will have to watch a hockey game and we want them to have a great time. Saturday night, it will be more than a game. It will be a party."
Fans are encouraged to come dressed up in Red, White and Blue â in colors for the Rayz and in Red, White and Green â in colors supporting Mexico. There will be a fan of the game contest before hand in the parking lot, and live entertainment. Flags, face painting and all exuberant displays from fans are expected from the turnout at the Coliseum.
Tickets are still available for the game and are only $5 a piece. Make sure you're in attendance for this one-of-a-kind historic hockey game between the Corpus Christi Rayz and the Mexico National Team. The Rayz will conclude their pre-season schedule with the final game ever at the Memorial Coliseum on Monday, October 18th vs. the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The game begins at 7:05 pm and tickets are only $5. The Rayz will then open up the AmericanBank Center with their first home game of the season on Friday, November 5th when they host the Laredo Bucks.
