Corpus Christi, Texas â The Corpus Christi Rayz are pleased to team up with Christus Spohn Health Systems as part of their 2004 Coastal Bend Asthma Initiative. The Initiative is a week long event working with Corpus Christi children. Former Rayz 50-goal scorer Tobin Praznik will be on hand at Del Mar College Wednesday afternoon from 3-4 pm and Friday morning from 9-11:30 am to teach children how to play hockey, stay healthy and fight safely through injuries and illnesses.
The Coastal Bend Asthma Initiative works with over 40 children from age 5-12 who suffer from asthma. A week long event filled with physical education and participation will culminate Friday morning with a competition involving the youngsters.
At 3:00pm at the tennis courts at Del Mar College on Wednesday, Praznik and Rayz staff members will teach the children about hockey and protection and safety methods. The kids will then play a game of street hockey with the former Rayz All-Star forward. Then Friday morning at 9:00 am at the Del Mar College Gymnasium, Praznik and the Rayz Dance Team will once again help the children during their week end competition. The Rayz will be on hand to support these children in a celebration of their week of physical accomplishments. Both sessions are open to the public and members of the media are encouraged to attend.
The Corpus Christi Rayz are currently in preparation for their seventh professional hockey season in Corpus Christi. Make plans to be a part of all the fun and excitement as the Rayz bring a new look to Corpus Christi for the 2004-05 CHL season. Season tickets and corporate packages are currently available.
