June 8, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
San Angelo Saints News Release

San Angelo, TX—The San Angelo Saints added a hard-hitting duet to the 2004-05 roster today with the signing of first year players Roan Blampin and Curtis Tidball. "The message is simple," says Head Coach/Asst. GM Ray Edwards. "Our fans didn't think we were physical enough, and we listened."

Roan Blampin joins the Saints after play with the Meyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The 6'1" 205-pound forward recorded 272 penalty minutes during the 2003-04 season and notched 7 points (4 goals and 3 assists). A native of Big River, Saskatchewan, Blampin notched 4 goals and 5 assists for the Melfort Mustangs in the 2002-03 season and recorded 203 penalty minutes.

"I'm a physical player and a physical checker," said the 21-year-old Blampin. "I hope to bring that presence to the ice."

The Saints also signed left wing Curtis Tidball to his first professional contract. The Regina, Saskatchewan native comes to San Angelo from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL. During the regular season, Tidball posted 3 goals and 4 assists and a team high 378 penalty minutes. The 6'1" 211-pound powerhouse launched his junior career in 2000 with the Quesnel Millionaires where he recorded 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) and 173 penalty minutes. In 2002, Tidball notched 1 goal and 4 assists and spent 348 minutes in the penalty box.

"That's what I do," says the 20-year-old Tidball of his physical play. "I look out for my team and will do anything for anybody. I plan to make my presence felt on the ice."

"During the playoffs, it showed that we needed to be more physical," says Edwards. "These two young men will be looked upon to be physical. They must also be able to contribute five on five to make our team better. We hope both Curtis and Roan can be a big part of out program next season."
