The Princeton Rays get the win against the Bristol Pirates, 13-4, on August 21 at Hunnicutt Field. The Rays scored three runs in the first, seven in the third, one in the fourth, one in the sixth, and one in the eighth. The Pirates brought one home in the fifth, two in the sixth, and one in the eighth. The winning pitcher for the Rays is Blake Bivens. Mitch Keller takes the loss for the Pirates.
In the Appalachian League East, Princeton is second at 33-24 behind Pulaski, 36-21. Bristol is fourth in the West at 25-27.
The Rays put three runs on the board in the first inning. Landon Cray scored from a single by David Rodriguez. Brett Sullivan and Rodriguez made it home off of a single by David Olmedo-Barrera. In the third, Princeton added seven more runs. Zac Law started the Rays off with a home run. Cray scored from a wild pitch by Keller. Sullivan made it home as Kewby Meyer is walked. A single by Angel Perez brought Rodriguez home. Olmedo-Barrera scored as Bill Pujols hit a ground ball. Perez and Pujols added to the score from a fielding error. In the fourth, Princeton's David Rodriguez scored from a single by Meyer. Bristol scored one run in the fifth by Nick Buckner as Carlos Ozuna hit a sacrifice fly. The Pirates put two runs on the board in the sixth. Tomas Morales scored from a single by Julio De La Cruz and Carlos Munoz made it home from a sacrifice fly by Erik Lunde. In the sixth, Brett Sullivan, for the Rays, hit a home run. Bristol scored one more in the eighth as De La Cruz scored from a wild pitch. The Rays finished it off in the eighth with one run by Law off of a wild pitch. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
