The Princeton Rays knocked off Johnson City, 6-4, on July 24 at Hunnicutt Field. The Rays scored first with one run in the 1st inning, one in the 2nd, two in the 6th, and two more in the 7th. Johnson City scored two runs in the 2nd, one in the 5th, and one in the 7th. Noel Rodriguez takes the win for the Rays and Sasha Kuebel is credited with the loss for the Cardinals.
The Rays are first in the Appalachian League East standings at 18-11. The Johnson City Cardinals are sitting at 12-16 and last place in the Appalachian League West.
Landon Cray was the first up to bat for the Rays and hit a home run. In the 2nd, Johnson City's Ryan McCarvel scored off of a single from Anthony Ray. Malik Collymore made it home from a ground out from Allen Staton. Princeton hit another home run in the 2nd by Jose Rojas. In the 6th, the Rays put two more runs on the board. The first run was scored by Brett Sullivan from a wild pitch by Jhonatan Escudero. Kewby Meyer scored from a single by Rojas. For Johnson City in the 7th, Eliezer Alvarez singled to bring Magneuris Sierra home. There were two more runs for the Rays in the 7th. Blake Butera and Brett Sullivan scored off of a double by Kewby Meyer.
