The Johnson City Cardinals beat the Princeton Rays, 10-6, at Hunnicutt Field on July 25. The Rays scored two runs in the 2nd, two in the 3rd, and two in the 4th. In the 4th, the Cardinals scored five runs. They then had two in the 5th, one in the 6th, one in the 8th, and one in the 9th. The win for the Cardinals goes to Juan Caballero and Steven De La Cruz gets the save. Ty Jackson takes the loss for the Rays.
The Princeton Rays are sitting in first in the Appalachian League East at 18-12. The Johnson City Cardinals, 13-16, are tied with the Bristol Pirates in last place in the Appalachian League West.
In the 2nd, David Rodriguez hit a home run to bring Brett Sullivan home. The Rays scored two in the 3rd. Peter Maris scored off of a triple by Zac Law. Zac Law made it home from a sacrifice fly by Landon Cray. In the 4th, the Cardinals put five runs on the board. The first was by Chris Chinea as Allen Staton doubled. Eliezer Alvarez scored from a wild pitch by Deivy Mendez. Staton scored off of a single by Joey Hawkins. Hawkins made it home from a double by Luke Doyle. Doyle scored from a single by Edmundo Sosa. The Cardinals scored two runs in the 5th. The first run came from Alvarez off of a double by Staton. Staton made it home from a triple by Hawkins. In the 6th, Sosa scored as Alvarez hit a single. Magneuris Sierra scored in the 8th from a sacrifice fly from Chinea. The Cardinals finished off the win in the 9th with a score by Hawkins from a single by Sosa.
