Rawhide Get Revenge & Take Series

August 12, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Bakersfield Blaze News Release

The Visalia Rawhide closed out their regular season matchup with the Bakersfield Blaze just as they started the year, with a convincing win.

Joel Payamps struck out eight batters in seven innings of shutout ball as the Rawhide blanked the Blaze, 4-0.

It was the second time in the 3-game set that Bakersfield was shutout and it was the ninth time the club has been held without a run this season.

Bakersfield scored one unearned run in the series against Visalia as they fell to 2-5 on the 7-game road trip.

Osmer Morales was a tough-luck loser in this game as he matched his season-high for strikeouts with nine despite throwing just five innings.

A.J. Pollock continued his rehab stint for the Arizona Diamondbacks by going 2-2 with an RBI and a walk, while Henry Castillo was 1-4 with an RBI as well.

Bakersfield returns home to meet Lake Elsinore in a trio of games before the San Jose Giants come to town.

The Blaze still own the best record in the second half of North Division play, but at 25-22, everyone is within striking distance.

Offensively, Bakersfield was limited to just three hits as their only threat came in the second inning when Joel Payamps loaded the bases after hitting two batters.

Game 1 on Friday night against the Storm is set for 7:15. Dan Besbris will have the call on TuneIn Radio and BakersfieldBlaze.com.
