
Rau Selected in 3rd Round by Florida Panthers

St. Paul, MN - Former Stampede forward Kyle Rau was selected by the Florida Panthers in the third round (91st overall) of the NHL Draft Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.
He was the second Stampede player selected in the draft. Defenseman Jamie Oleksiak was taken 13th overall by the Dallas Stars last night. Over 35 players with USHL experience were taken in the draft this weekend.
Rau was ranked 177th overall by NHL Central Scouting prior to the draft. He was named Minnesota's "Mr. Hockey" after posting 69 points (33g, 36a) in 25 regular season games with Eden Prairie High School. He led Eden Prairie to a state championship, scoring the game-winning goal in triple overtime.
He posted 10 points (4g, 6a) and a plus-4 rating in 11 games with the Stampede during the regular season and led the USHL in scoring during the playoffs with 12 points (7g, 5a) and a plus-5 rating in just 10 games. He will play at the University of Minnesota this fall.
