November 5, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Arizona Rattlers News Release
MESA, Ariz. - The Arizona Rattlers announced that one of the team's 37 training camp roster spots would be guaranteed to one participant at the team's annual open tryout this year, which will be held Saturday, December 13.
The tryout will be held in conjunction with Salt River Pima - Maricopa Indian Community and take place at Salt River High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Any and all aspiring Rattlers are invited to attend, as the workout will test all positions except for kickers.
One lucky participant will be signed to the team before training camp. The player signed will join the team when training camp begins in February and have a chance to make the team's final roster. The 2009 season is slated to begin in early March and continue through the Arena Bowl in late July.
Salt River High School is located in Scottsdale at 4827 N. Country Club Drive, which is at the intersection of Country Club and Chaparral. Registration will begin at 10:00am on December 13, with the actual workout commencing at 11:00am and lasting roughly three hours. It is strongly recommended that participants arrive early.
Participants who are interested in attending are encouraged to complete the pre-registration form on the team's website at www.azrattlers.com, and pay their tryout fee early, as the pre-registration fee is 25% lower than registering and paying on the day of the workout. Those who pre-register will be charged a workout fee of $60 and while walk-up registrations the day of the workout will be accepted, the fee will be $80.
Tryout participants will be tested in a variety of football drills by Head Coach KEVIN GUY and other members of the Arizona Rattlers coaching staff. All participants are required to bring their own workout attire. Participants will receive an official Rattlers Tryout T-Shirt, but must bring their own shoes (both grass cleats and athletic shoes are required), shorts and tights. Workouts will take place on Salt River High School's grass football field.
The Arizona Rattlers are coming off their playoff guaranteed season in which they doubled their win total from the previous season and hosted a post-season game. 2009 season tickets are on sale now by calling 602-514-TDTD.
