Arizona Rattlers News Release

Phoenix, AZ - After one of the most competitive training camps in the history of the franchise, the Arizona Rattlers have set their roster for Opening Night, this Friday night in Grand Rapids against the Rampage.

"I said it all during camp and I will say it again, there were more talented football players in this training camp than in any I have held in my career," said Head Coach Todd Shell. "It was not easy getting down to where we needed to be. There was a lot to choose from."

Arizona made several moves in order to get down to the roster limit for Friday night's game. The Rattlers waived OL/DL Andy Bowers, DS Cliff Green, WR/DB MarTay Jenkins, OS Phil McGeoghan, OL/DL Matt Raivio, and OL/DL Dan Rumishek. They placed WR/LB Hunkie Cooper, WR/LB Ryan Dennard, WR/DB Orshawante Bryant, QB Travis Cole, WR/DB Evan Hlavacek, FB/LB Phil Glover, and OL/DL Vince Amey on Injured Reserve.

The team features twelve players new to this year's roster, including rookies Maurice Taylor (DS), Wilson Thomas (WR/LB), and lineman Steve Mascorro and John Frank. The 2005 squad has five players who played for Todd Shell in New York. The former Dragons are DS Terrance Joseph, FB/LB Kerry Taylor, and linemen Jerry Sharp, Anthony Hutch, and Kelvin Ingram. Arizona also signed kicker Chris Sailer and traded for lineman Nikia Adderson, who were with the Rattlers in 2002 and 2003.

The Arizona Rattlers will kick off their 14th season at America West Arena on Thursday, February 3 against the Orlando Predators. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM, and tickets are available now by calling 480-784-4444 or by logging on to AZRattlers.com.
