Arizona Rattlers News Release
PHOENIX - The playoff guaranteed Arizona Rattlers announced two major signings to the team's defensive line unit today, with Head Coach Kevin Guy inking DL AARON HUMPHREY (6-4, 265, Texas) and DL DARRELL SHROPSHIRE (6-2, 301, South Carolina).
Humphrey, who was a member of the AFL's All-Rookie team in 2004, has played his entire career for the Austin Wranglers to this point. Before missing the 2007 season with an injury, the former Longhorn was known as one of the AFL's premier pass rushers. In three seasons, Humphrey amassed 48 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 5 passes defensed and forced eight fumbles. The defensive end spent time with the NFL's New York Jets (2001) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2002), as well as a stint in NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire (2002) and was drafted by the XFL's Chicago Enforcers in 2001.
Shropshire, who primarily plays nose guard, was drafted by the NFL's Atlanta Falcons in the 7th round of the 2005 draft, and remained with the team until the final cut of the 2007 training camp. In his two-year NFL career, Shropshire played in 23 games, racking up 21 tackles, three sacks and six passes defensed.
To make room for the new additions, WR Darrell Jones and LB Anthony Andriano were placed on recallable waivers.
The 2008 Arizona Rattlers kickoff their 17th season in March, and have guaranteed their season ticket holders a trip to the playoffs. Season tickets, group tickets and premium single game tickets can be purchased by calling 602-379-2333.
