SALT LAKE CITY, UT. - The Arizona Rattlers (10-2) defeated the Utah Blaze (5-6) 72-37 Saturday (June 4) at Energy Solutions Arena.
QB NICK DAVILA completed 7-of-13 passes for 79 yards and three touchdowns, finding WR ROD WINDSOR (10 catches, 98 yards, four TDs) twice in the endzone. QB TREVOR HARRIS also found Windsor for two of his scoring strikes, completing 8-of-14 passes for 87 yards.
FB ODIE ARMSTRONG carried the ball seven times for 26 yards and two scores. One of the fullback's scores came with 4:52 left in the third quarter when Armstrong broke a tackle and hurdled a Blaze player for a 19-yard touchdown run that put the Rattlers up 65-25.
Defensively, the Rattlers collected five turnovers. Most notably, DB VIRGIL GRAY snared an interception and a fumble recovery for Arizona.
QB Tommy Grady completed 22-of-43 passes for 156 yards and four touchdowns for the Blaze. He spotted WR Ernie Pierce for two scores (14 catches, 128 yards).
With just under nine minutes left in the second quarter, the Rattlers began a scoring frenzy, stringing together three straight scores without a rebuttal from the Blaze. DB RILEY SWANSON recovered a fumble and took it three yards for a touchdown after a Rattlers kickoff, putting Arizona up 28-12 with 8:45 remaining in the second quarter.
After a four-and-out from the Blaze, Armstrong rumbled into the endzone for a three-yard score with 4:26 remaining in the first half to extend Arizona's lead to 35-12. On the ensuing kickoff, Kicker FABRIZIO SCACCIA's boot to the nets allowed DL MARCUS TILLMAN to recover and trot into the endzone for a seven-yard score, putting the Rattlers up 42-12 at the 3:36 mark of the second quarter.
