Rattlers Celebrate Youth Football

PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers and the Arena Football League will honor the state's youngest players this Saturday night as the team hosts Youth Football Night. All kids who wear their youth team jersey to the May 26 game are eligible for discounts on tickets to watch the Rattlers challenge the defending ArenaBowl champion Chicago Rush. In addition, the first 5,000 youth in attendance will receive a "Pass and Catch" CD provided by USA Football, demonstrating the fundamentals of football.
For Rattlers such as AFL all-time leading rusher Bo Kelly, youth football is a cause close to their hearts.
"Playing football was one of my major highlights as a youth, so I feel like my kids and the kids in my neighborhood should also have that opportunity," said Kelly, who spends his personal time coaching youth football. "I coach because I feel it's my obligation with the position I'm in as a Rattler. I looked up to my coaches when I was in youth football and now I can give back and do the same thing. It's a great feeling when you teach a kid something and see their excitement when they do it on the field."
Youth football will also have center stage during halftime as Pride Youth Football will take to the U.S. Airways Center turf to compete in the league's all-star game.
