
Rattlers Acquire Former Sun Devil, All-Arena Pass Rusher Luis Vasquez

Phoenix, Ariz. - The five time world champion Arizona Rattlers were assigned defensive lineman Luis Vasquez for the 2016 Arena Football League (AFL) season on Wednesday. This will be his first season with the Rattlers, his sixth in the AFL.
Before he joined the Rattlers, Vasquez spent three seasons with the San Jose SaberCats. During that time, Vasquez amassed 56.5 tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles and two pass breakups. Prior to joining the SaberCats, Vasquez played for the Milwaukee Mustangs, where in 2012 he earned second team All-Arena honors after earning 8.5 sacks, 28.5 tackles and 5 pass breakups that season. In 2009, Vasquez also spent some time with the National Football League's (NFL) Baltimore Ravens.
The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Vasquez attended Arizona State University, where he was named honorable mention All-Pac 10 twice after he finished his career with 78 tackles, 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
The Gales Ferry, Connecticut native was considered the top high school defensive player in the state while attending Ledyard (Conn.) High School. He was the Eastern Connecticut Conference Most Valuable Player and earned All-State honors in both 2002 and 2003, and was a three-time All-Conference honoree from 2001 to 2003.
