FLORENCE, Ky. -- The River City Rascals defeated the Florence Freedom in blowout fashion on Sunday afternoon at UC Health Stadium, winning the series finale 11-4. The win gave the team the season series victory, which would give them the tiebreaker should the teams finish the regular season tied in the standings. Nolan Meadows had four hits on the game, including a pair of doubles and two runs driven in.The Rascals got on the board in the fourth, scoring on a Freedom throwing error at the plate and a three-run homer from Tanner Murphy. Kameron Esthay made it 6-0 with a two-run shot in the fifth. After Caleb Lopes put the Freedom on the board with an RBI single in the sixth, Braxton Martinez got the run back with an RBI single of his own in the seventh.
The Rascals then scored four more runs in the eighth, on a two-run double from Meadows and a two-run single from LJ Kalawaia. The Freedom scored three in the bottom of the ninth, on an RBI double from Ricky Ramirez and a two-run homer from Caleb Lopes.
Rascals starter Keenan Bartlett (2-1) earned the win, allowing just a single run over five innings while pitching on three days rest. Freedom starter George Faue (2-3) took the loss, allowing six runs, three earned, over five innings.
The Rascals (49-36) are off Monday and Tuesday, and return to CarShield Field for a doubleheader against the Joliet Slammers on Wednesday night, with first pitch for the opener set for 5:05 p.m. CDT.
