Rapids to Celebrate Jamie Smith During August 20 Match

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids will have several special events around the club's match on Wednesday, August 20 (kick-off 7 p.m MT), when LA Galaxy visits Dick's Sporting Goods Park, including a pregame ceremony to honor retired midfielder Jamie Smith (TICKETS).

The match is presented by Delta Dental of Colorado, and could be Landon Donovan's final match in Colorado, as the Galaxy and U.S. national team legend is retiring following the 2014 season. The game will also feature $1 hot dogs, sodas and popcorn through ARAMARK's Customer Appreciation Night.

Rapids partner, Delta Dental of Colorado, will present the match, and give away limited-edition Rapids lunchboxes promoting its new Cavities Get Around campaign. The campaign is raising awareness of the importance of children's baby teeth, since cavities in baby teeth can spread to adult teeth.

With two out of every five children in Colorado getting their first cavity before age 4, Delta Dental of Colorado has launched Cavities Get Around to encourage families to give their children only water between meals and at bedtime to keep cavity-causing sugars off the teeth as much as possible. The match will include a pregame ceremony to honor former Rapids midfielder Jamie Smith, who joined the club in 2009 and helped the club win the MLS Cup in 2010 before retiring following the 2013 season. Smith, a Scotland international who currently coaches the Rapids Under-18 team in the Rapids Academy, made 62 appearances (39 starts) for the club, and will be joined by friends and family for his ceremony.

The Wednesday night match will also feature special prices at concession stands on ARAMARK Customer Appreciation Night, with hot dogs, sodas and popcorn all available for just $1. The deals will be good at any of the concession stands in the stadium, starting when gates open.
