
Rapids Release Second Leg of 2011 Preseason Schedule

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, February 1, 2011) - The Colorado Rapids today announced their complete and finalized preseason schedule, which now includes trips to California and Washington.
The team previously released the first leg of their preseason training schedule highlighted by a week-long trip to the Westside Complex in Glendale, Arizona beginning next week. While in Arizona, the Rapids will play three exhibition games against MLS opponents: Sporting Kansas City, the Columbus Crew and the LA Galaxy.
The Rapids second leg of the preseason features a five day training excursion in California culminating with a re-match of the 2010 Eastern Conference Championship Game in the MLS Central Coast Challenge against the San Jose Earthquakes on March 4 at Alex G. Spanos Stadium on the campus of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo at 8 p.m. MT.
The following week, Colorado travel to the Pacific Northwest for a preseason match-up pitting the defending U.S. Open Cup champion Seattle Sounders FC against the defending MLS Cup champion Rapids on March 9 at Qwest Field at 8 p.m. MT.
The Rapids open their 16th MLS season in 2011 hosting the expansion Portland Timbers at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, March 19 at 7 p.m. MT. Season tickets are available by calling (303) 825-GOAL or online at ColoradoRapids.com.
