Colorado Rapids News Release
The Colorado Rapids are excited to celebrate the MLS WORKS Soccer for All campaign all week long and during the upcoming game at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, May 15 against Houston Dynamo FC. The campaign represents the dedication of the Rapids and Major League Soccer to provide an environment where staff, players, partners and fans are treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status. Check out our upcoming initiatives below.
SOCCER FOR ALL WEEK

WYATT ACADEMY MINI PITCH
The Colorado Rapids, in partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Target, installed a new mini-pitch at the Wyatt Academy K-5 Community School in the Cole neighborhood of Denver earlier this year.
This is the second mini-pitch the Rapids have installed with the U.S. Soccer Foundation and other partners that provides underserved communities in the Denver metro area with a safe place to play soccer. It is also one of seven mini-pitches that Target and the U.S. Soccer Foundation recently completed in the greater Denver area as part of their larger partnership to create 100 mini-pitches nationwide.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRYOUTS
This is the last day to register for the 2021 Colorado Rapids Unified Team tryouts! All athletes with a Special Olympics Colorado Application are invited to try out. Unified Partners are also welcome and must have a valid Class A volunteer application on file with the state office. All players trying out must register through this link: https://forms.office.com/r/EBDnLpzyew
ROLLING RAPIDS POWER SOCCER
The Rolling Rapids Power Soccer team is ready to kick off the season with their first full-team practice this week. The practice is the first of three in the month of May, as the team will continue to practice three times per month in the spring and fall. The Rapids social team will be covering all the action this Thursday, which will also be featured on MLS WORKS Instagram. Make sure to follow long!
In partnership with Colorado Adaptive Sports Foundation, the Rolling Rapids Power Soccer team is the first full-time power soccer program in Colorado. Participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities. Power soccer combines the skill of the wheelchair user with the speed and power of the chair itself to create a challenging and entertaining game. The game is played in a gymnasium on a regulation basketball court. Two teams of four power wheelchair users attack, defend and spin-kick a 13-inch soccer ball to score goals.
