
Rangers Travel to Pennsylvania to Face Erie Otters for Wid-Week Match

Erie, PA - The Kitchener Rangers finished a four-game week collecting four of eight points. The Rangers now head to Pennsylvania on Wednesday for the first time this season to take on the Erie Otters. Puck Drop is slated for 7 pm at The Erie Insurance Arena.

This Season:
The Rangers and Otters have faced off twice this season in Kitchener; the first meet between the two clubs was held on October 27th where the Otters pushed the game into overtime, but the Rangers came out on top to finish the game 5-4. Their most recent game was on November 21st, where Kitchener surged ahead finishing with a 10-3 victory.
Over the Years:
The Rangers and Otters have taken the ice against each other 30 times over the last five seasons as divisional opponents. Kitchener holds a 20-7-1-2 record against Erie and when playing them on the road, the Rangers have a record of 8-4-1-0. The Rangers' best campaign against the Otters was in 2017-18 when they went undefeated through their six games played.
Special Teams:
The Rangers' special teams have been a key component to the team's success in the young season so far. They own the league's third-best power play at 28.2% but drop to sixth place on the road converting at 25.6%. In the other end, their penalty kill sits fourth in the league at 84.3%.
The Otter's power play sits fifth in the league converting at 26.1% and while playing on home ice drops to 12th place at 19.5%. The Otters' Penalty Kill is ranked 20th at 70.8% and while playing at home they jump up to 82.1%, ranking seventh in the league.

Last Time Out:
For the first time since October 7th, the Rangers were on back-to-back losses heading into Flint on Sunday. However, the Rangers got returned to the win column winning 3-1 against the Firebirds. Adrian Misaljevic scored a highlight reel goal to open the scoring. The Rangers did not score again until halfway through the third period as Matthew Sop registered the game-winning goal.
Rangers to Watch:
Veteran forward and Kitchener native Matthew Sop has stepped up this season as the third highest point getter on the Rangers, and the OHL, with 15 goals and 24 assists. Sop collected a goal and assist in back-to-back games on the weekend against Guelph and Flint.
Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken) remains first in the CHL for points and goals (26G, 19A) despite not getting a point on Friday or Saturday. This was the first time this season that Rehkopf did not record a point in two consecutive games. Last time playing Erie on November 21st, Rehkopf had a five-point night with one goal and four assists.
Tanner Lam is currently ranked third in the OHL rookie scoring with 17 points (5G, 12A). On Sunday afternoon he recorded two assists against Flint for his fourth multipoint game of the season.
In net, Jackson Parsons remains the hottest goalie in the OHL with a .922 save percentage. Parsons is ranked first in goals against average (2.34), first in wins (13-third in the CHL) and the most shutouts in the CHL (4). Parsons has suited up in 19 games for the Rangers this season.

Last Time Out:
The Erie Otters faced the Mississauga Steelheads on Saturday night in Erie where the Otters took a 5-0 loss. In their last five games, the Otters have a 2-3-0-0 record winning against the London Knights and the Soo Greyhounds. In these five games, the Otters have given up 22 goals, 10 of which were tallied by the Rangers. They have scored 12 with three of these coming against the Rangers.
Otters to Watch:
Carey Terrance (Anaheim Ducks) leads the Otters in points and goals. Terrance has collected 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points. Terrance has scored one goal in both matches against Kitchener this year. He is currently in a four-way tie for first in short-handed goals in the league.
Malcolm Spence has the third most points for the Otters with a 5-17-22 stat line. In his last four games, he has recorded one goal and four assists with no points in the most recent game against Mississauga.
Ben Gaudreau is leading the Otters goaltenders with 11 wins and a .894 save percentage, averaging 3.32 goals against. Gaudreau has yet to play against the Rangers this season. This past season Gaudreau was playing for the Sarnia Sting and did not record a loss against Kitchener winning all four games.
