Rangers Tip Storm Late
October 9, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release
The Rangers headed up highway 7 on Saturday evening to complete the home and home season-opening series between The Blueshirts and The Storm.
The lineup stayed the same as the matchup on Friday night - with the exception of goaltender Jackson Parsons.
The Rangers got off to a shaky start - as Guelph tallied two goals in the first frame, but Kitchener responded quickly in the 2nd period. Joseph Serpa got us on the board ( assisted by Carson Rehkopf), and Francesco Pinelli tied us up on the powerplay (assisted by Declan McDonnell).
Sasha Pastujov scored for the Guelph Storm to end the 2nd, but Cameron Mercer gets his first Ontario Hockey League goal to tie us early in the third before Roman Schmidt blasts one by Bennett to put us up 4-3 (Mike Petizian and Carson Rehkopf on the assists).
Pastujov scores again for Guelph to tie, but Justin Nolet scores the game-winner with the help of Joseph Serpa and Arber Xhekaj with a minute left to play.
