Kitchener Rangers News Release

Rangers Head Coach and General Manager Steve Spott announced this morning the team has signed Jeffrey Skinner.

The team's first round selection in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection played with the Toronto Young Nationals last season in the GTHL accumulating 65 goals and 42 assists for 107 points and 163 PIM's in 55 games.

"We are very pleased as an organization that Jeffrey has elected to pursue both his athletic and academic goals in Kitchener. Jeffrey will have the opportunity to play in an organization that is rich in tradition and live in a community that offers two world class universities. He is a talented young player and our staff looks forward to working with him." Steve Spott, Head Coach and GM, Kitchener Rangers.

"I want to compete against the best. I am really looking forward to playing in the OHL under Coach Spott who, I understand, has the same fast-paced, hard working style that he had when he coached with my hometown Markham Waxers many years ago. I am also looking forward to playing in the City of Kitchener which has a great history of winning and gives the Rangers so much support."- Jeffrey Skinner

Skinner comes from a hockey family; his older twin sisters both played in the NCAA, one at Harvard and one at Cornell as well, a third sister is presently playing varsity hockey at Carleton University. Although he had the opportunity to explore several opportunities in the NCAA, Jeffrey has elected to combine the best of both worlds academically and athletically by playing in the Ontario Hockey League.
