KITCHENER, Ontario – Petr Kanko's goal five minutes into the third period stood as the game winner as the Kitchener Rangers shaded the ERIE OTTERS 6-5 in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

Andre Benoit paced the Rangers with two goals and two assists. Nathan O'Nabigon, Craig Voakes and Mike Richards scored the other goals for the Rangers, who extended their home-unbeaten streak to 12 games (10-0-2) with the win. The Rangers are now 23-11-6-1 on the season.

Mike Blunden paced the OTTERS with two goals. Tomas Galasek, Ryan O'Marra and Josh Patterson scored the others. Rob Hisey and Chris Campoli had two assists each. The OTTERS saw their four-game winning streak come to an end with the loss and are now 19-17-5-1 on the season.

The two teams were tied at two after one. Kitchener, on the strength of a last-minute goal by Richards, carried a 5-4 lead into the third.

The Rangers out shot the OTTERS 44-40 in the game as Josh Disher took the loss.

The three stars of the game were 1. Benoit; 2. Kanko and 3. Blunden.

The next OTTERS home game is Friday when the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds make their lone visit to the Tullio Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets for the game are available at the Erie Civic Center Box Office and all Erie-area TicketMaster locations.
