Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Kitchener Rangers headed up north to begin a home-and-home series with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Wednesday night.

During the first period, the Rangers were given an early powerplay but could not capitalize on the opportunity. Pavel Cajan kept his team in it, stopping a flurry of chances by the Greyhounds. Despite playing well, the Soo's Cole MacKay was able to open the scoring on a powerplay.

The Rangers tied the game three minutes into the second, as Carson Rehkopf scored his first OHL goal. The Soo immediately responded, going up 2-1. Cajan helped keep the game at 2-1, as the Rangers were penalized twice after the Soo scored their second goal.

In the third, the Rangers pushed hard for an equalizer but could not beat Greyhounds goalie, Samuel Ivanov. With two minutes remaining, Tanner Dickinson secured the game for the Soo, the final being 3-1.

A bright spot for the Rangers was Pavel Cajan, who saved 32 of 35 shots.

We will finish the home-and-home in Kitchener on Friday, Oct 29, at 7:30 p.m.
