Mike Morrison made 26 saves to pick up his second shut-out of the season, a 5-0 Kitchener Rangers win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
A backhander by Tobias Rieder went through the pads of Greyhounds netminder Chris Perugini at 11:55 of the first period to put the Rangers up 1-0. The goal was a short-handed marker for Kitchener. Matt Tipoff made it 2-0 for the Rangers after he knocked in a feed from Jason Akeson at 16:37.
The Rangers dominated the second period with a shooting edge of 24-10. A fast hard shot by Akeson put Kitchener up 3-0 just 1:09 in to the period. Michael Catenacci scored off a shot from the side of the net at the 11:37 mark to increase the Rangers lead 4-0. Tyler Randell netted his 11th of the season top-shelf at 13:46 to put Kitchener up 5-0.
The Rangers travel to Owen Sound on Wednesday, January 26th for a 7:00pm game versus the Attack. They return to home ice on Friday, January 28th to host the Windsor Spitfires.
