Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Kitchener Rangers defeated the Peterborough Petes 2-1 on Thursday night. Eric Ming scored the game winner and Tyler Randell recorded his first goal since returning to the Rangers earlier this week.

Franky Palazzese made 16 saves for Kitchener in a scoreless opening period. Former Ranger Mike Morrison made his first start against his former team and stopped eight shots through the first 20 minutes.

Kitchener broke the deadlock with a power play goal midway through the second frame. Tyler Randell walked off the bench, picked up a pass from Ryan Murphy and snapped a shot past Morrison. The overage forward was making his first appearance of the season for the Rangers, after he was re-assigned to the team by the Boston Bruins earlier in the week.

The Rangers extended their lead to two goals late in the period. With Morrison behind the net, Radek Faksa got the puck to Eric Ming to the right of a wide-open cage. The sophomore winger's sixth goal of the season gives him 24 points, three times his total from his rookie campaign.

Each team recorded 12 shots on goal in the second period.

The Petes capitalized on the man-advantage and hit the scoreboard with just over eight minutes left to play. Alan Quine snapped a high shot past Palazzese for his 16th of the year. Assisting on the play was second-year winger Lino Martschini.

Peterborough out-shot Kitchener 11-4 in the final period, finishing with a 39-24 overall advantage. Palazzese made 38 saves for his fifth win in his last six starts.
