Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - Rancho Cucamonga's pitching was too much for the JetHawks Wednesday as the Quakes beat Lancaster, 9-0, at The Hangar. Brandon Gold turned in a solid start, but the offense was held without a run for the sixth time this season.

Gold (9-9) gave up two runs on one swing. In the fifth, Connor Wong hit a two-out, two-run double to give Rancho the first runs of the game. Those were the only runs he surrendered, but he suffered the defeat.

Leo Crawford (8-0) outpitched Gold to stay undefeated. The lefty pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks. A pair of relievers pitched the final three frames.

Rancho Cucamonga (48-17, 83-52) pulled away in the late innings. The Quakes scored five runs in the seventh thanks in part to four walks. Lancaster (36-29, 69-66) needed three relievers to get three outs. Rancho scored once in the eighth and once more in the ninth.

Colton Welker was the lone JetHawk with multiple hits, as he pushed his league-leading average to .333 on the season. Lancaster's offense was shut out for the sixth time this season. Rancho snapped a four-game losing streak at The Hangar as well.

The three-game series wraps up Thursday night with Lancaster's final home game of the regular season. Lefty Ty Culbreth (5-8) gets the nod in the rubber match against Rancho's Edwin Uceta (0-0). First pitch is at 6:35 pm.
