Rampage Welcome Defending Champion Chicago Tomorrow
April 20, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
GRAND RAPIDS - The defending ArenaBowl XX champion Chicago Rush will face the 2-4 Grand Rapids Rampage in front of a sold-out Van Andel Arena tomorrow night (April 21) at 7:00 p.m. (EDT). The game will mark the Rampage's first home sellout since May 18, 2003, and gives Grand Rapids the chance to improve to 2-1 in division play.
Last week, the Rampage lost a 52-41 decision on the road against the Kansas City Brigade. Grand Rapids quarterback Chad Salisbury (Perryopolis, Pa.) continued his solid play, completing 16 of his first 17 attempts on the night and finishing 23-of-30 for 223 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Three different Rampage receivers fumbled the ball away, however, allowing the Brigade to capture the first-ever matchup between the two clubs.
Grand Rapids' Timon Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica) proved once again why he is one of the most electric players in Arena Football. His second-quarter 51-yard kickoff return for a touchdown marked his third on the season, and the Rampage receiver totaled over 200 all-purpose yards (231) for the fourth time in six games this season. Marshall, who currently leads the AFL in all-purpose yards per game (220.7), was named the Ironman of the Game.
The Rampage defensive line will receive a boost tomorrow night when Chukie Nwokorie (West Lafayette, Ind.) returns to the lineup for the first time since suffering a knee injury in Week 1. In that season-opening game against the Colorado Crush, Nwokorie recorded a sack, forced a fumble, and recovered the loose ball to help spur the Rampage to a come-from-behind 44-42 win. The Purdue product was injured on that very play, however, and will see his first action in six weeks against the Rush.
Rampage fans without a ticket to tomorrow's game can watch live beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Comcast Local with Ben Holden and Ray Bentley calling the action. Also, fans can hear every snap with play-by-play voice Joe Parson and color commentator Herman Moore on WBFX 101.3 or at RampageFootball.com.
