Rameriz Blanks Royals in His Debut with Greeneville

Greeneville, TN- The Greeneville Astros shutout the Burlington Royals on Wednesday night in Tennessee, 5-0. Nick Graffeo takes his second loss of the season, while Francis Ramirez earned his first win in his Appalachian League debut. The Royals and the Astros will battle for the series Thursday night at 7:00.

Greeneville would get off to a good start in their first at bat, as Jordan Scott led off with a double. Chan Moon would single to score Scott from second, and make it 1-0 Greeneville. The Astros pulled ahead by two in the fourth inning, as Luis Alvarez hit his second home run of the season. It is just the second long ball of the season giving up by Graffeo. In the next inning, Joshua Magee stole third base, and Jin-Ho Shin's throw was arid, allowing Magee to come home and make it 3-0. Andy Ferguson entered the game in the sixth, and allowed an RBI single, and a run-scoring double, to give Greeneville the 5-0 lead.

Graffeo gave up two earned runs, three overall, on five hits, in five innings, raising his ERA to 1.77. Ferguson surrendered two runs on three hits while striking out four in his three innings of work.

For the home team, Rameriz gave up three hits in five innings. This was his first start at this level, after making seven starts with the Astros of the Gulf Coast League. Rodney Quintero and Scott Zuloaga tossed the final four innings, combining to allow a hit each.

Only three players recorded hits for Burlington, who had five total. Jorge Bonifacio went 2-for-4, while Shin had two hits, including a double. Adrian Bringas went 1-for-4 for the Royals in the loss.

Scott went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored, while Jesse Wierzbicki had two hits in four at bats with a run scored and an RBI. Alvarez's home run was his only hit of the night.

Burlington and Greeneville will take the field tomorrow night with the series win on the line. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 at Pioneer Park.
