
Ramada University Named Falcons Host Hotel

FRESNO, CALIF. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the Ramada University has been named as the team's new host hotel.
Located at the intersection of Shaw Avenue and Highway 41, the Ramada is located within walking distance of several shopping areas and restaurants, and is just minutes from downtown. The property is in the midst of wrapping up a major renovation, and offers business and leisure travelers a full range of services and amenities including a full-service bar and grill, and banquet and meeting facilities.
In addition to serving as the host hotel for all visiting ECHL teams, the Ramada and Falcons will team up for several other partnerships during the 2008-09 season. The Ramada will host the weekly Falcons Coach's Show, featuring Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Joe Babik and Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas, each Wednesday during the regular season. The Falcons will also hold a select number of post-game parties at the Ramada throughout the season.
"The Falcons are excited about our new partnership with Ramada University," Falcons Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Joe Babik said. "It is in a great location for the visiting teams, and our fans will enjoy going to the Ramada weekly to hear the latest news in Falcons hockey with our radio show."
The Falcons return downtown to Selland Arena for the 2008-09 season. The home opener is Friday, October 24 against the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30 p.m. Season Ticket packages start at just $432, and are now available by calling the Falcons at (559) 485-7825.
Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier âAA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 24 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Nineteen of the 24 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
