ECHL to release new 2008-09 schedule
AUGUSTA, Ga. (June 23, 2008)-The ECHL will be releasing a new schedule for the 2008-09 season as a result of the Pensacola Ice Pilots suspending operations. The Ice Pilots could still be eligible for play this season so long as a new ownership group could be found in time.
"I hate to see this development with the Ice Pilots both for the ECHL and its member clubs, but also for the fans in Pensacola," Lynx general manager Dan Troutman said. The Lynx had previously been slated to play the Ice Pilots 10 times during the 2008-09 season, including five dates at the James Brown Arena. The new schedule will still include 36 home games and 72 total games. It is expected to be released by the ECHL at a later date. "We've had a lot of fun building a rivalry with the Ice Pilots," Troutman said. "Based on my understanding, if a purchaser for the Pensacola membership were to come forward, we could still play the currently released schedule." The Ice Pilots are the second team in the South Division to suspend operations for the 2008-09 season, as the Columbia Inferno are on hiatus. Season tickets, group tickets, flex packs, mini plans and small business packages for the 2008-09 season are available now by calling 706.724.4ICE or by logging on to augustalynx.com.
